How pathetic does a populous of a Country have to be before the Government has to regulate how long they play? It's like a baby being tol dhow much to eat. People have issues I don't want to even think about.

Babies do get told how much to eat....

But i digress. Its China. China is Communist and Communism works.....in theory.(Just like the rotary engine :-p). But it really doesn't bother me that much that they are putting laws on the amounts of gaming. They regulate everything else, so why not online gaming.

And as to leaving the gaming to the control of the parents, if every person was competent then that system would work. However many people lack common sense and the competency to raise a child. And these people really shouldn't have children. But you know what, I live in America so I can't take that right away from them. If we lived in China, this would be a different story....

In some respects, I like Chinas control but at the same time I think its being done in the wrong manner. Like i said, Communism works in theory. But whatever, I'll let the governements do what the want and I'll mind my own business and not piss them off.

People are so damn stupid these days you can't just assume they will do anything in moderation. This kind of enforcement is great, and it should be applied in every country and game there is.

You don't know what you are talking about. 3 hours is actually pretty hardcore. I think that there should be a 5-hour limit for all ages in the United States. Hopefully, this will stop the 40-year old virgins.

So let me get this straight, you people honestly believe that a Government body created by "other people" should regulate what you or anyone else can and should spend time doing on their time? What gives you or anyone else the right to regulate what I do during my or anyone else's free time? Or my child's free time? You guys don't get it the purpose of the law is to regulate and thus reduce freedom to enforce tougher regulations on children so they are used to an abusive government that interferes with every aspect of their lives.

and you people are actually for Government intrusion into your life for this?

I don’t care if its to regulate 10 hours or 10 seconds government exceeds it’s usefulness when it regulates what anyone does in their private lives, or the time they spend doing anything such as gambling, fishing, bicycling, playing video games or anything else they privately do for that matter.

Lydz it is because when you play video games all day you turn into a girl. Games are popular in South Korea and guess what would happen to them if they went to war with North Korea?

More and more americans are starting to play video games all day long, they were the most powerful country in the world...now what are they doing with Iraq? Which is smaller than Texas...

I think I proved my point. In 5 years China > United States in war.

That's what it is all about.

Are you saying that playing video games will deteriorate your masculinity, and therefore make your country's military weaker?

I think the government should stay out of it. Of course China is communist (or "socialist") but here in the United States and Europe I feel the government shouldn't limit gaming (except the id for M games, etc). It is up to the parents, really. I'm 15 and I hardly have any time for gaming because of sports and the stuff my parents got me into when I was young. The kids playing 5+ hours at a time every day are probably the ones who grew up with a gameboy in hand from, you know who, the parents.

LOL at that. I hardly think the reason we are doing poorly in Iraq is because of video games. I tend to think that oriental countries (Japan, Korea, and China included) play more video games than America anyways, though that may be starting to change. Or maybe its just more acceptable in that region instead of a dark secret like it is here.

Meh... wouldn't affect me anyways cos I'm 19 so I could play all the time I want (Take THAT! ). Still, I live in Europe.

However, if, as some here said, parents give V.Games to their kids to keep them quiet then I suppose parents can just register their names on the video game and then just let the kid/s play on the account/s.

Conclusion: This whole idea is useless, crap, retarded, waste of cash, just plain stupid overall.

You don't pretend the Chinese police to go and inspect every house to see who's really playing, do you? Gimme a break.

lolz people are soooooo idiotic on any country.
I myself dont like the rule but it appears this game addiction thingee is a serious issue that coupled with idiot children being idiots and all feel that game life = real life ergo... they'd kill to play more.
So honestly? This is a hard mode method to fix this rising issue. China can do it. Trust me. They've got everything under control and its true that they can enforce it.
Sides.. think of it this way.. you cant get a job in the US without ur SSS stuff right? in china its harder still... and my friend there says he cant even VISIT porn sites there.

sooo.... ugh.... glad im not born there....but hey....

On the other hand China needs workers to produce something and not have any thought other than what the state tells them. That’s like reading in a China newspaper about how there is a world wide food shortage and now everyone must suffer and be rationed because of it. When in fact we have lots of food in the free world.

Have you not heard of Thesis, antithesis, and synthesis? The quickest route to political change?

1) The thesis is an intellectual proposition, such as children dying in china due to video games. It’s important to note that the Thesis does not have to exist in reality only to exist in the minds of people who believe it. For example "Global Warming" but that can be another discussion.

2) The antithesis is simply the negation of the thesis. Such as more regulation or opposition to video game playing. Playing video games for 3 hours instead of 4 or 5 hours will reduce your child’s chance of suicide (real or imagined). Your goal of course is step number 3.

3) The synthesis solves the conflict between the thesis and antithesis by reconciling their common truths, and forming a new proposition. For example more control over the computer dialogue in china and more laws governing who is saying what to who in Chinese chat rooms. Register your real name (has nothing to do with the thesis but creates a control factor) for the protection of the children for a safer "State" for all of China.

Honestly you need to question what you read in the newspapers more often.

Yes exactly despite the facts that fewer accidents occur with fireworks then handling a pet cat we can see the net results. The net result being more government control and regulation and less “fireworks” in the hands of "Free" American people. Since the fireworks example was given lets take a look at other "Laws" that are a result of fireworks now banned. Since that incident all chemicals (gun powder even though gun powder is not used in fireworks much) used in the manufacture of fireworks are now regulated and you have another form of Taxation in the forms of "fines" that give money to the "State".

It’s all about control whether its real or imagined.

People like you scare me. I do not exist for my government my government exists for me.
100000000000000000000000000000% true, the government is supposed to help us do what WE want as a people, not tell us what to do =p

i agree with this china regulation in a way.
3 hours a day for a video game while u're still attending school is a lot.
more than that is surely gonna affect your studying .
considerin all countrys are uppin their compulsory education to 18.....they must inroduce measures like this to make it possible.
china is very open to gaming and they have starcraft and other RTS games in their curriculum....they also have government supported esport national team....but theres a difference between playin an RTS/chess etc and playin a MMOrpG where u dumbely spend hours clickin to get an iteam.
